We understand Christmas as one of the most important holidays in the Western world and Christianity. The Latin term from which it is derived is Nativitas, which means Birth. It commemorates the birth of Jesus in the city of Bethlehem. The greatest gesture of love, God who becomes man, who adopts the human condition.
It is common to hear: Christmas has finally arrived! We also see that a thousand and one plans are made to celebrate it: trips, gifts to give and receive, dates, meetings with friends and family, food, drink, congratulations and an endless number of other acts, wishes, promises and recommendations to celebrate it with the illusion of a child, with hope, with happiness, with love, with joy, in abundance, etc. etc.
However, none of this is necessary for the transcendent nature of Christmas to be fulfilled, for you to experience the fullness to which we are all called; and that is that God wants to be born in your heart, wants to be conceived in you, but respects your freedom. You need to accept, to desire, to believe that it is possible. God doesn’t care if you are not good, he can be born in a smelly manger and transform everything. Are you willing? Do you believe?
