The Shroud of Turin, or more commonly known as the Shroud of Christ, is one of the oldest known religious mysteries.

Scientists at the University of Padua used forensic techniques to compare the fibers of the Shroud with some samples of ancient fabrics, and surprisingly they discovered that the material could have been made in a time that would correspond to the life of Jesus. This new study used the fibers that were used in the first investigation. The results of this new study have been published in a new book entitled The Mystery of the Shroud. The authors of this book, Professor Giulio Fanti and journalist Saverio Gaeta, examined the fibers of the Shroud and compared them with samples of fabric dating from between 3,000 BC to the present day, to compare them and see if it is a fake. The investigation was carried out using two chemical tests and one mechanical test, the first two were carried out using infrared light, and the other was by measuring radiation across wavelengths.

The Shroud of Turin is an ordinary cloth, which has an extraordinary image. The image only shows its astonishing quality when viewed as a photographic negative. The developed image shows the image of a man who has been crucified, which for millions of people around the world is Jesus Christ. The Shroud of Turin currently resides in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin, northern Italy.
