The Holy Father John Paul II said that: “the surest and most effective way to establish lasting peace on the face of the earth is through the great power of Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament,” and he called for “orienting, unifying and opening a thousand chapels for Perpetual Adoration throughout Latin America.” In response to this request, Father Patricio Hileman Rivera, founder of the Missionaries of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, has taken on this task, holding Latin American meetings for Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration and urging priests to open the doors of their parishes to the existence of a chapel for perpetual adoration.
In response, 400 chapels have already been opened in Mexico and it is hoped that, with the help of committed lay people and people of good will, a thousand chapels can be opened in this country alone, making it the most Eucharistic country in all of Latin America.
“Mexico is a Eucharistic country that also enjoys the presence and custody of the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe, which encourages even more faith and perpetual adoration. It is She who asks us to carry out this work to honor the Glorious Resurrected Body of Her Son, so She will also provide the resources and benefactors,” said the priest.
