The ruins of Jerash, an ancient Roman city located in what is now Jordan, are an example of the preservation of a time as great as that of the Roman Empire. Entering Jerash is like traveling back in time, and it is almost like being in ancient Rome. This city, which once had nearly 20,000 inhabitants, became one of the 10 most important cities of the Roman Empire.

Currently, Jerash is one of the most attractive points in the Jordanian geography and being close to Amman, the capital, makes its visit much more interesting. The ruins of Jerash are a clear example of a great city of the Roman provinces, and allow us to appreciate how people lived in the time of the empire, as witnessed by its theaters with numbered seats, the great oval plaza, the Temple of Artemis, the Hippodrome, Hadrian’s Arch, the Avenue of Columns, the fountain, the entrances to the city, etc. that really transport us back in time; becoming a highly appreciated destination.
